SPEX The Spiritual Exercises of St.Ignatius of Loyola - A Rock Oratorio
Come to an evening of prayer and music based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola. The Spiritual Exercises gives us resources to build a deeper prayer life, to develop our ability to discern God’s will in our lives and to engage us more actively in the work of building the Kingdom.

About The Program
We are pleased to offer, particularly in this ‘Year of Prayer,’ a three-day performance of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius in “rock oratorio” form to celebrate the Feast Day of St.Ignatius of Loyola 2024.
- The Spiritual Exercises contain the core principles of a life of prayer which lead to personal conversion, discipleship and discernment. It is a prayer manual that contains guided material for prayer for a personal retreat.
- Termed “SPEX” as a short-form for “Spiritual (Sp.)” and “Exercises (Ex.),” the oratorio is structured according to the four “Weeks” of the Exercises. To learn more about the four "Weeks" of the Excercises, click here.
- SPEX presents in-depth meditations upon the life of Christ in musical form – in a word, “oratorio” or prayer – but with the use of chants, choral pieces, solo voices, ballad, and, folk and rock music. The entire music is rendered in prayer form; that is, in lyrics that speak to God and hears God speak to us. It is our hope that by listening to SPEX, our relationship with the Lord will be renewed, our understanding of him be deepened and our desire to respond to him find full and fresh force.
